Origin of The Manfest Anthem....

Following is an email sent by 'Killer', an IIML alumnus from the class of 93 to his batch-mates 2 years back.... As he recounts the experience of the first Manfest visit after passing out (something which we will soon go for later this month), he explains how it became a ritual for all IIM L'ites to sing the 'anthem' year after year, each Manfest. No more globe from me.... now just read the mail below:

Hi,

Wishing you a Healthy and Peaceful 2008.

A few years ago, actually 1994 to be precise, we had all gone for our 1st Manfest (after passing out). Can still feel that warm chai on the Jhansi platform that chilly night as we waited for Pushpak (We went from Hyd). Banging on the compartment doors shouting - Gajju...Boka...

New to the Corpo world and with the dawned realization that we have been humped for life n why Life in L was the best time of our life, proceeded to have as much fun as possible.

The alumni team put entries in all events and got into the finals of each one of 'em!! Well, it was Hindi Group Vocals and all of us ran onto the stage and so it happened..PYAAR HUME.......

Sam Singh Bedi was 'divine' on the Drums and very soon, we had Bhaskar n Prabhat n Dingy n Shady n Shan n hazaar PGPs on the stage as well..Can still feel the whole group hugging n the song never seemed to end !!!and how the other insti teams were zapped with the uproar of I I ML....I I ML...after the song..

After that, at every Manfest, it's been a ritual for Alumni to sing the anthem with full josh!! and the enthuest amongs the PGPs joining as well.

One particular Manfest I remember was when Manju had joined as the alumni crowd and led the singing.

So for every alumnus who is FORTUNATE to make it to Manfest - Do sing this song with ur heart n soul on the stage..

Will miss Manfest but U can be sure will be singing pyaar hame out here..
Wishing you a Healthy 2008 and a Fantabulous one if U can make it to Manfest....

I I ML...I I ML.....I I ML........

What are we cooking?

One more blog!!!

Every time I think of a new topic to write about, I first try to think of a category that the article can fit into. The motivation for this comes from a friend, from IIM Lucknow, whom we better know as YuckFu! (yes, you read it right!). For someone who shared over 500 GB of important, precious and exotic 'data' (for convenience, computer engineers use the term 'data' for anything that can be represented in binary form -1s and 0s - and can be stored on memory devices), categorized by Race, Geographic location, Activity-type and several other parameters, it is definitely a commendable job! I tried doing the same....wait!.... with my BLOGS. But beyond a point I realised, that there are far too many things to talk about and too many categories to divide into. So, I decided to club some stand-alone articles on varied topics, mix them well in a single blog, add some much needed masala to enhance the taste, and then cook up some nice Khichdi!

So before I start pouring my thoughts in this webspace, let me congratulate YuckFu for his wonderful achievement which enabled hundreds of souls to access 'their type of data'.

For non-IIM junta who have been complaining about making little sense of my previous IIML centric blogs, I promise, this one is likely to talk about anything under the sun.

For foodies, who thought this blog would give you some more tips about how to prepare khichdi,

For people who stumbled upon this blog just by googling 'khichdi', thanks!!! You make me happy! My blog is becoming more popular and rising in ratings on Google search!
